Mind-map

I did a little mind-mapping to come out with possible outcomes. And also figure why more people don't give to charity.

WHERE the money goes.

The project pack also chalks out how they use the money.

For every £1 donated:

- 77p goes on overseas projects
- 13p is invested in raising more funds
- 6p goes on their campaigning work in the UK
- 4p is spent on running ActionAid UK

ActionAid Guidelines

ActionAid forgot to include the following guidelines in their project pack earlier. These are the colour and typeface guidelines from the new updated version. Thankfully I haven't started designing.

I don't mind the typefaces. But the colours are just horrible and I wont use them for my Hand-in but I'll replace them when I send my entry off to YCN.

10 actions to end Poverty

I went back to look at the Annual Review ActionAid had sent me. And I realised I didn't really pay attention the first time. They have listed their 10 actions to end Poverty. And this made sense as to what ActionAid aims to achieve and I thought I could work with them.

  1. Tackle Women's Rights
  2. Help End Hunger
  3. Fight HIV and AIDS
  4. Respond to Emergencies
  5. Educate the World
  6. Give People Power
  7. Take Action
  8. Inspire Young People
  9. Campaign for Change
  10. Invest with Care

Plums to Poverty?

So I did these quick humourous designs for ActionAid thinking it was an interesting take on the word 'bollocks'.

However, after doing a few, I stopped. Didn't think it worked because the word bollocks is too interesting to be replaced by any other like Plums or Nuts and so on. Plus, I guess the word 'Bollocks' works better than any other synonym.

A Blind Call

A Blind Call is one of the smartest social campaigns taking advantage of technology I've ever seen. How often do you forget to lock your mobile phone keypad and you unknowingly start making calls to your friends Alice, Anna or Andrew? And how much money have you lost with such unwanted calls? Think about it. Wouldn't it be better to give such money to charity?

And here comes the great idea by Guillaume Duval: first to create a special number that when is dialed donates to costs of the call to a charity organization for blind people, and then to recommend to people in Belgium to save such number as "A blind call" in order to be the first name in their phone book.

The site to support the idea is extremely simple, but think about it, the idea is so smart and strong that there isn't much else to say to convince people.

NHS launches hard-hitting organ donation ad

Television campaign highlights fact that three people die each day due to shortage of donors

The NHS is launching its first national television campaign to promoteorgan donation, highlighting the fact that three people who are in need of a transplant die each day due to a shortage of donors.

Breaking on TV tonight, the £3m marketing campaign, co-ordinated by the government advertising body the Central Office of Information, aims to get more people to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register. Only 27% of the public have signed up.

The campaign features a healthy-looking boy watching TV on the couch with a member of his family. He then gets progressively more ill as the ad points out that if a loved one was ill we would donate immediately.

"By focusing on the gap between the number of us who say we would accept an organ if we needed one and the number who have actually joined the register, our campaign highlights the urgent need for those who believe in organ donation to act now," said the chief executive of NHS Blood and Transplant, Lynda Hamlyn.

The campaign, which runs until the end of March next year, also includes an online game, developed by PR firm Munro & Forster based on giving the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz a new heart.

Ad agency AMV BBDO was responsible for developing the campaign.
